WP-Testimonials: a WordPress Plugin

WP-Testimonials is a plugin for WordPress that lets you display your customer/client/product testimonials on your blog.

You may add, edit or remove testimonials through the “Testimonials” navigation tab in the admin area. The plugin includes the option to display one or more random testimonials in your sidebar using a widget.

Testimonials can also be displayed all on one page. Simply create a new page in the dashboard (leaving the content area blank) and then select that page from the drop-down list in the Testimonial settings.

All of the information you need to install and use the plugin is contained in the readme file.

    Hi there,

Like Bob, I can’t get your plugin to work either. Using latest WP and latest version of your software. Added testimonials but can’t see them in the testimonial manager. Also they are not appearing in the sidebar widget or in the main page. Any help to get this working would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    /D

  4. DJIO says:

    Hey man!

I must say your plugin is really useful. I’m using it gladly.
As a “thank you” I’d like to donate some of my time helping you to improve the plugin (and perhaps making it receive more 5-stars in the WP directory).
    ;-)

I can help you with Localizing (translating the plugin)
and Usability (make it a bit more intuitive).

If you think this is a good offer, please contact me right away!

Thanks again for developing this great plugin!

    Sincerely yours,

    Djio

  5. Josh Sklar says:

Simple thing – but it would be nice if the link from the testimonials opened in a new window (target=”_new”) instead of replacing the page/site upon click (target=”_self”). That way people might not forget to return to the site after checking out the link, if it’s still there in their browser, eh?

  6. Bob says:

Was crushed to see that after I added 3 testimonials, nothing displayed on page and there’s no list or table of any saved testimonials.

    WP 3.0.1 / 1&1 web hosting

I had just UNinstalled another testimonials plugin because yours looked so much better. Now back to square 1 unless you can release a fix soon.

  7. jodi says:

Released an update today (version 3.4.1) with the query code rewritten to hopefully solve the blank page issue. Please post your feedback and let me know how it works for you.

  8. Lenny says:

I can not get the testimonials to display on page

the sidebar works great but the page is blank?

    Please help thank you

  9. Rylie Brandon says:

I’d like to suggest adding tagging or categories to your Testimonials plugin. This would be very useful if you would like to list testimonials on a per product, per service or per category/tag basis.

  10. cdragin says:

I also had the problem with a blank page, and no info in the fields on the admin page. Reinstalled 3.2 and that solved the problem. The line of code did not work for me. The site I’m working on (excellenceinperformance.com) is on WP 3.1 with thesis 1.7 as the theme.

  11. Greetings.

Is it possible to break testimonials into pages?
I mean, I have many testimonials (about 100 or more) and it doesn’t seem good idea to have all of them on 1 page.
I’d like to have only 5-7 testimonials on one page…

  12. Mike says:

    On the Testimonials Management Page:
    1. when click EDIT (an existing testimonial), the form comes up empty.
    2. when click ADD NEW TESTIMONIAL (after filling in the form), it acts like it saves but then the added testimonial does not show up in the list above.

    Using: WordPress 3.0, Lifestyle by StudioPress 4.0, WP-Testimonials 3.4

  13. RichardSouth says:

Same “blank page” bug as others. Nothing in the widget except the heading. Tried earlier version, but the same problem.

  14. Ravi says:

Jody, this is a great plugin – thank you for developing it!

With that said, I’ve got a quick question – do you know how to insert a solid line between the testimonials on the actual testimonials page (which uses the shortcode).

For example, on your site, where/how would you edit the code so a line appears between Westside Martial Arts’ testimonial and Phoenix Career Group’s testimonial? And then again between Writers by Nature’s testimonial, etc?

    Thanks again!

  15. Julia says:

I love the functionality of this plug in and am busy typing in my testimonials ( am migrating / upgrading my website from Frontpage to WordPress.. about time, I guess !)
Anyway, I am a CSS dummy.. I tried inserting the code you provide into the Style Sheet and then various page sections which no discernable results.. is there a particular place?
Also.. would really like to show a shaded area around each quote to help seperate them and not clear that this is part of what you have there in your instructions. Can you guide me?
    Thanks !

  16. This plug in is great but “sort of” works.
The problem is that when I’m logged into my wordpress admin panel everything shows up nicely. But as soon as I log off in the sidebar the widget displays “Thank you for installing the WP-testimonials plug in” and the same on my testimonials page!
How do I remove that message??
    Thanks

  17. Rylie B says:

Does your plugin do pagination- so if you have a lot of testimonials you can page thru them instead of having one very long testimonials page?

  18. Melissa says:

    Hi Jodi –

When I attempt to activate WP-Testimonials, I receive a fatal error: “Cannot redeclare register_sfstst_options() (previously declared in /home/******/public_html/wp-content/themes/awesome/functions/includes/wp-testimonials.php:51) in /home/******/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-testimonials/wp-testimonials.php on line 58.

Being not-so-techy, I think this means that the plugin and my theme (or WordPress) are both trying to use the same function. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

    Thanks so much! :)

    • Melissa says:

Never mind! Poor documentation with my theme (which, is still a great one), made it seem like I had to install WP-Testimonials in order to get it to work. Turns out that it was already installed — and ready to go! I was just confused because I couldn’t find the interface in the usual Plugins list. Saw in the comments here that it lives in Tools. :)

Problem: User error! (although, perhaps you may want to put something in the readme.txt about this for those of us who equate a plugin with the Plugins menu — and are apparently too stubborn — dense?!!! — to look beyond it).

      Thanks!

      • jodi says:

Hi. The newest version of the plugin creates a menu option in the dashboard. It sounds like your theme is using an older version of my plugin. When theme authors incorporate plugins you run the risk of them not keeping a current copy in their theme. This can create problems when upgrading the plugin in the future as the functions may change and “break” your theme. I always advise users to avoid themes with preinstalled plugins for that reason.

  19. Keith says:

I would like to split the testimonials page by category rather than displaying them all at once, any plans for this?
