The network is back online
The laptop continued to not play nice with the other machines. I could finally see it from the desktop, but could not access it nor could I see any of the machines from the laptop. I finally came to the decision it had to do with a network protocol or service. Uninstalling and reinstalling had not worked. And, my gut said its never really gone when you delete it. (you know how windows likes to keep ghost copies of things just hanging around)
