Newest Geeklog release includes HTML text editor

Website owners now have the opportunity to be more hands-on and reduce the need to hire a web designer to make minor site updates. The latest release of the Geeklog content management system includes FCKeditor, an open source HTML text editor.

The editor is similar in nature to common word processing applications. Each text box has a java-based toolbar immediately above it. The toolbar provides the ability to control text formatting (bold, italic, color, size, alignment) and also gives users the ability to insert images, tables and horizontal lines. Other features include adding/removing hyperlinks, copy/paste from Word (with cleanup) and undo/redo buttons.

Upgrade to GL 1.4.0 complete

The much anticipated release of Geeklog 1.4.0 is finally here. I’ve been running the release candidates and have been pleased with the new features and encountered very few bugs. Now, after much testing, the Geeklog folks have released the final (stable) version of 1.4.0.

Geeklog 1.4.0 released in Beta

Being an avid Geeklog lover, I was thrilled to hear Geeklog 1.4 was finally released. The release is in Beta, a necessary step in the development of any software. This release offers some great new features like trackbacks, pingbacks, FCKeditor and has support for additional syndication (RSS) options.

Unfortunate use of free PHP mail handler

It’s very disappointing that I have to post this blog. It has been brought
to my attention that some websites have been using my free PHP mail handler
to distribute SPAM. I wanted to make it clear that SunFrogServices.com is is
NO WAY affiliated with nor in support of sending SPAM.

As a script programmer, SunFrogServices.com develops tools to aid website owners.
One of these scripts is a PHP
form handler
to send information from a web form to the website owners.
This script has been published as a free resource for any legitimate website
owner to download and use. It is common practice for script developers to leave
a “credit” tag in the footer of the script indicating their name and
website as the creator. Such is the case here.

Security upgrades for Geeklog and phpBB2

As with all programs, there are inevitable bugs and fixes necessary with previous releases. Such is the case with two of my favorite PHP-based scripts: Geeklog and phpBB2. Both announced patch updates this month.

It is highly recommended you upgrade your versions immediately.
