Xbox 360 failure: Wii now have Miis
Just barely beyond 18 months and our Xbox 360 died. We aren’t even heavy gamers. I imagine we averaged 2-3 hours per month since we bought it. Yet, when we flipped it on last weekend to play a game, we saw the dreaded Red Ring of Light aka the Red Ring of Death.
We had been considering the Wii for awhile, but supply has been limited in our area. The kids only used the Xbox periodically and only on the easier games. The sports and some others required too many buttons to make the effort enjoyable. They are at an age where easier is better and the Wii certainly fits that profile.
After calling around to a few places, my husband located a Wii system at a local GameStop. We went up Saturday afternoon and brought it home. The girls spent the rest of Saturday and most of Sunday playing non-stop. Of course, they both woke up this morning complaining of sore arms. Go figure!
The guys at GameStop said I shouldn’t need my receipt to get the Xbox repaired. With the number of units affected, Microsoft is just having owners call the support department at 1-800-4MY-XBOX to request a return box. They say repair/replacement is only taking 3 weeks. I’ll call this week and maybe it will be back not too long after Halo 3 hits the stores.

The xbox 360 is a great machine , you can repair your xbox 360 and have no problems http://www.easy3redlightsfix.com using the ultimate xbox 360 repair guide, 3 red lights fix
Lucky you. Unlike many people you found a Wii and were able to buy it. It’s almost impossible these days to find the Wii in stores in many countries.
Enjoy your unit…
“They say repair/replacement is only taking 3 weeks.”
I suppose that is okay with you because you did not use the xbox that often.
But as an avid gamer, I have to say I love playing the games on my Xbox 360. And fortunately for me, I have not experienced yet this “3 Red Rings of Death” problem where the screen freezes, but my friend Sean did. I personally could not wait 3 weeks.
Sean called me last night all excited, I thought he just got his hands on some new game not released or something. Sean began telling me about while he was playing his screen just froze up. He was not frazzled at first, he just shut his box down and turned it back on. That is when he saw 3/4s of his ring Red, and his box seemed to be down for the count.
Sean contacted support and they told him that it was a “hardware” issue and that he would have to send it in for repair, and that it would probably take 4-6 weeks (including time for the return box, or he could ship it on his dime). He said he was livid! We are both college students, and with the Christmas break coming up, he was anticipating some sweet gaming time. Now his box would be gone over the break.
As he told me all this, I was like, so, why are you all excited about this then? Sean told me that he went online to some forums to check and see what others had experienced or what might be done. He said he found people complaining about the same thing in almost every Xbox forum he went to. Worse yet, they were sending refurbished boxes back for a replacement. Is that even legal? But then, who has the cash and lawyers to fight them….
In one of them though, this gamer gave Sean a web address: http://affiliatesden.com/sites/17296.htm?tid=ck105 and told him that this program could fix the dreaded “3 Red Rings of Death” and he would not have to send it in.
Sure enough, Sean went to http://affiliatesden.com/sites/17296.htm?tid=ck105 and ended up purchasing a program that showed in text, color photos, and even a video, how to fix the box step-by-step. He did not have to go purchase anything, he said he had the stuff needed right at home. And the thing he is excited about was that he had his box going again in about 40 minutes after the purchase!
Cool, I said. Sean was like, no man, it gets better! The fix is supposed to be permanent. And he could help us all out when (like, not if) it happens to our boxes.
But Sean also wanted me to help him spread the word to all our buds and any gamer with an Xbox. He thinks support is probably trying to gain something bu fixing the box like get some info that the box has collected (he has a bit of a conspiracy thing happening). Still, it beats your box missing for 4-6 weeks, and who knows, maybe he is right about the info.
Anyways, we are now spreading the word to all who will listen. Feel free to pass this along too, if you would. You do not need support, just go to http://affiliatesden.com/sites/17296.htm?tid=ck105 and get the permanent fix yourself and be back up and running within the hour!
Thanks for your help.
See you around online maybe,

Though i like the 360, I have had a wii for 7 months and love it! I know how you feel, waking up the next day after an intense night of wii boxing/wii sports, and having sore arms. Actually, even wii bowling makes you hurt after awhile! By far the best console out yet as far as playability is concerned.
I still love xbox
