I have been a NASCAR fan for years - many years, but have never been to a race. That will all change tomorrow. For the first time I will experience a NASCAR race in person. And of all races for my first time, I get to see the Pepsi 400 at Daytona. Man, it doesn’t get better than that.

Since we’ll arrive during the day (and the heat), I went looking for a hat today. My intention was to grab an inexpensive ball cap in a light color. That would keep the sun out of my face and my hair off my neck. When I got to the store, what did I manage to find but a light pink #20 cap! Oh how cool.

My sister wants me to wave at Kevin Harvick and my oldest daughter is sending me with her notebook in the hopes of an autograph from Ryan Newman. While I can do the former, I don’t know that I can swing the latter. We are planning to leave early - way early - since we don’t know what to expect for traffic. I imagine we’ll be there hours ahead of the race, which is scheduled to start at 8pm. Since I’ve never been to Daytona International Speedway, I am pretty sure we can kill time walking around and looking at everything.
