Moving Office 2007 back to the XPS
I tried running the VAIO as my primary machine, using the XPS as a server. After a few months, it just isn’t working. I spend most of my time working on the XPS and just checking email on the VAIO. Which means when I need to click a link, copy/paste information or update a client file I have to type quite a bit in manually.
So I decided to put Office 2007 and MS Accounting back on the XPS. Now my email runs from the main machine, but I have the settings to leave messages on the server for 30 days. That allows me to utilize webmail on the VAIO if I’m out of the office and need to respond to a message. Since I’m an email packrat, I have my webmail set to BCC my own account on all messages so I can archive my reply the next time Outlook pulls down messages from the server.
Of course, moving back to the XPS meant I started dealing with the blue screen of death again when trying to sync the Axim. I discovered ActiveSync 4.5 has been released, so I downloaded and installed it. So far the blue screen has stayed away (of course it’s only been 2 days).
