The first signs of winter
We rolled the clocks back an hour on Sunday morning and had a cold front come through. I was enjoying the cooler temperatures, but unfortunately, they are to be short-lived. They expect it to be back in the mid-80’s tomorrow for Halloween.
The Beardies have responded to the cooling weather and are getting settled in for their brumation period. Last year, only Trinity took an extended nap. This year, I can tell Morpheus plans on sleeping for awhile. Only Neo is still up and alert.
I’ll be putting some boxes in the cages soon so they have a dark place to go during the daylight hours. While I will cut back some on their feedings, I still like to keep something available every day. I usually do crickets or worms once a week and put fresh bearded dragon food in a dish every morning.
My goal is to build new cages for all the critters for next year. With the brumation setting in, I’ll postpone the project until after they wake up. No sense in disturbing them. Besides, I’m still thinking on the logistics of how to best handle the cages. I have a few ideas floating around in my head. I’ll just let them simmer until Spring.
