The network is back online
The laptop continued to not play nice with the other machines. I could finally see it from the desktop, but could not access it nor could I see any of the machines from the laptop. I finally came to the decision it had to do with a network protocol or service. Uninstalling and reinstalling had not worked. And, my gut said “it’s never really gone when you delete it”. (you know how windows likes to keep ghost copies of things just hanging around)So, after that brilliant thought, I decided to re-reformat the laptop hard drive and start from scratch once again. Once Windows was back in place and I had run the defragmenter, I went back to work on the wireless and home network.
It took only a few short minutes to have everyone holding hands. The laptop will now exchange words with the desktop and the desktop gladly hands over items to the laptop.
I’m still not sure where the problem was, but it now seems to be fixed. Even the HP Printer is cooperating, letting everyone send their documents right on through.
Of course, I’m still knocking on wood and not saying “yipee” too loudly. One can never be too careful with these temperamental creatures.
