Boil the water - easier said than done
The local water company notified a large area of the community today that there is a potential problem with the water. The notice said something about a low pressure problem causing the water to possibly be unsafe and advised boiling the water before drinking for the next 48 hours. For convenience’s sake, we went to the grocery store and picked up several gallons of drinking water and a bag of ice. For dinner, we decided to grab fast food, thinking it would be easier than cooking with bottled water. Unfortunately, the water problem was wide-spread enough to affect all of the businesses and restaurants in our area. Although the food preparation was still running smoothly, the soda machine could not be used. This forced the fast food places to use 2-liter bottles and bagged ice bought from the grocery store. I can only imagine how challenging food service in a sit-down restaurant is being handled.
Each time I go to grab a quick drink from the faucet, I manage to catch myself. I am so used to just flipping on the sink and make our juice or tea that having to remember to use the bottled water is tough. I’ve moved the bottles to sit next to the refrigerator and kitchen sink, hoping if they are more visible it will be easier to remember to use them. If that doesn’t work, I’ll resort to using post-it notes on all of the faucets!
