Sims 2 OFB: How to install an elevator
One of the first new building items I tried after installing Open for Business was the elevator. I built my new shop, selected a location and placed an elevator on the ground floor. I then switched my view to level 2 and proceeded to place my 2nd elevator. It wouldn’t work. I tried the elevator shaft. That, too, did not work. After 30 minutes, I finally gave up and used stairs. Having a recent college graduate, I had a need to build another shop and decided to conquer this elevator thing. Here is what I discovered.
- Put down the floor on the ground level where the elevator will be.
- Select an elevator and place it in your desired location
- Switch your view to level 2
- Put down flooring directly above the ground floor elevator (there are 4 squares)
- Place an elevator directly above the ground floor elevator
Following these steps should save you the trial and error method I used. Good luck!
how do i get a elevater
The elevator is available in build mode. You must have the Open for Business expansion pack.
Why can i see the elevator symbol available if i have the sims2 seasons if i cannot use it?

Because you can see other symbols from other expansion packs, like the bubbles in the neighborhood view for the university and nightlife areas, even if you aren’t allowed to use them.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! My teenaged nephew and I spent many hours trying to figure out how to install the elevators in our stores. We were out of ideas and I thought to seach online. I’m so happy I did. Thank you from saving us from wasting another second with the elevator problem… and saving us from a visit from the mental breakdown doctor or social bunny:0)
