Normally, I’m not a last minute person. I like to have things planned way in advance. My calendar has events marked down up through May 2006. Yet, somehow this holiday season was upon me before I realized it. Given the kids are out of school starting next Monday, I needed to have their shopping complete by today. I’d been keeping a list of their requests for the last few weeks, so I was relatively prepared for what I needed and left confidently with list in hand.

I started shopping at the big name toy store on Thursday and finished at the local “has it all” today. In between, I stopped at five or so other shops (I lost count somewhere along the way this morning). Going out in the early morning made for fewer carts in each aisle, which made it easier to get the items I needed.

The shopping is now done and although it only took two days, I’m quite exhausted. Next year, I’ll have to mark my calendar to start sooner.
