If the lane ends, merge sooner

There is one stretch of road I drive every morning where the right lane effectively ends — it’s a “must turn right”. Mind you, there are signs for nearly a mile warning drivers the lane must turn right. Yet, there is always some bonehead that thinks he (or she) has the right to continue down that lane and force their car in front of you at the red light (where they SHOULD be turning right).Yesterday, it was a black Mercedes who decided he was above the “must turn right” rule. Some 50-something guy in a suit speeding up to well over the 45mph speed limit to *ahem* merge over in front of mine at the last minute and then SLAM his brakes on. Jeez, it’s a good thing I anticipated his move… I was already slowing down because I’d noticed the traffic jam up ahead.

I’ve seen drivers cut over three of the four days I’ve driven that road this week. Today, it was a pickup truck that nearly took out the Kia in front of me. The Kia was refusing to give up her position and the pickup truck decided he was bigger, so he was taking it — like it or not.

As a firm believer in Karma, I don’t even bother showing my aggravation to these inconsiderate drivers. It’s enough knowing that the universe keeps score.
