NASCAR superspeedways need serious review

I understand NASCAR wants to make exciting races for the fans. But, come on… when you have 23 cars out of a 43 car field not finish the race because of “the big one” (which is never just ONE)… something’s got to be done.

These super speedways, like Daytona and Talladega, need to be reviewed and something needs to change. Whether it’s lowering the banks, changing the spoiler setup (again) or adjusting the restrictor plate… something needs to be done to avoid ruining this much machinery and endangering this many competitors.I’ve been a NASCAR fan for quite awhile. I don’t enjoy watching these wrecks on these tracks. I enjoy racing — REAL racing where the driver is able to drive the car, not just hang on and hope someone around them doesn’t make a mistake.

NASCAR fans need to step up and demand NASCAR make some change to make these tracks less prone to wreck. I’m sure it can be done without sacrificing the fans’ entertainment. I’d personally rather see cars strung out and running competitively to chase down the car in front than piled four and five wide in a turn!

I’m not a huge Jeff Gordon fan, but he said it best when he said bump-drafting has got to stop. If these cars aren’t hitting the car in front of them at 185 mph (scaled back from 230+ with the restrictor plate), there is less risk of these dangerous, race-ruining accidents.

On a side note, it’s a shame the 48 can’t be a real man and own up to his mistakes. Both races at Talladega this year, Johnson managed to take out some great cars because of his impatience.
