Exo Terra "Vivicator" vibrating feeding dish a no go

Exo Terra "Vivicator" vibrating feeding dish a no go

I’ve been trying to switch my bearded dragons and water dragons to freeze-dried crickets rather than live ones. For the last few years, I’ve bought crickets by the carton (1000 per) and kept them in a 10 gallon tank. They aren’t much work to maintain, needing only a dish of cricket bites and some old paper towel rolls to climb on. And, even though they don’t escape from the tank, they always manage to pull a Houdini from the dragon cages.

My family is rather patient with my hobby and tolerates the occasional cricket hopping across the living room. I don’t mind all that much stooping to pick up the wandering insect and dropping it into a cage. I have reached a point in my herp collection, though, where convenience is starting to become a factor.

Wilma leaves and fall arrives

Fortunately, Wilma crossed the state quickly on Monday. Being just north of Orlando, we had a lot of rain and some steady winds, but nothing very damaging. The schools were closed (which I think was a good idea), as were most local businesses.

Watching the news reports, it looks like Wilma really caused havoc with the power grids in South Florida. The latest report I heard this morning said that it will be up to 3 weeks before power is restored in some areas.

Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger to connect in 2006

According to a press release on October 12, users will soon be able to instant message cross-platform between Yahoo Messenger and MSN Messenger. The joint release states, "Yahoo! and Microsoft plan to introduce these interconnectivity capabilities between MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger to customers around the world in the second quarter of 2006, and in doing so expect to help make IM an even more useful part of consumer’s online communications and communities."

October is my favorite month for sports

As any sports fan will tell you, October is one of the best months of the year. You have the World Series in baseball, the final races in the NASCAR Nextel Cup and football really gets going after working through the opening weeks.

I love sports; just about any kind of sports. Ill sit through a golf match just as easily as a football game. About the only sport I dont watch is hockey and thats mostly because in Florida, hockey isnt exactly a natural fit. I say mostly, because even if I were a hockey fan, I imagine Id have a hard time enjoying the games after the petty bickering and ultimate cancellation of an entire season (plus some!) over athletes salaries.
