Feeling lost without Lost
The most recent new Lost episode, titled “Do No Harm”, aired on April 6. That was over two weeks ago, and I must admit I’m feeling quite Lost without my weekly dose of this highly-rated ABC drama. After the light of the hatch, the birth of Claire’s baby and Boone’s passing, there are so many story lines, I’m not sure which to ponder on any given day.In the April 6 episode, after a blood transfusion from Jack and a near-amputation of his leg, Boone finally succumbed to his injuries from the fall and died. During a few moments of lucidity before his passing, he tells Jack that plane fell on him. He also makes mention of the hatch that Locke wanted kept secret. At the time, Jack disregarded the comments as hallucinations or possible a reference to Flight 815. However, by the time Boone dies, Jack is starting to understand there is more to the story.
Simultaneously, Claire goes into labor in the woods. Left with Kate, Charlie and Jin, Claire struggles through (an unusually brief) labor and gives birth to a healthy baby boy. At one point during the birth scene Charlie went to offer aid and Jin put a hand on Charlie’s arm. I chuckled out loud at the “I wouldn’t do that” look Jin gave Charlie.
Through all this John Locke was nowhere to be found. At the end of the March 30 episode, “Deus Ex Machina”, John was banging on the hatch, saying he’d done all that had been asked of him. The final scene showed a light turning on inside the hatch. Since that episode, we have not seen more of the hatch and still don’t quite know who or what might be waiting inside.
The next episode is scheduled to air on April 27 at 8/7c. Although I digitally record the majority of shows I watch to play them with limited interruption, I may just have to watch Lost live next week. I’m curious to see how they will handle the baby with its needs and how they will move forward with the hatch story line.
